Close enough for a Friday night. Quiet enough to feel away.
Most cabin rentals worth the trip are two or three hours outside Columbus — Hocking Hills, Amish country, Mohican. That's fine for a long weekend, but it's too much drive for a single night. Darby Creek Cabin splits the difference: a quiet dead-end street in Grove City that still gets you back to Short North, OSU, or the airport in under 30 minutes.
You still get the cabin feel. A stone fireplace in the living room, dark wood throughout, the hot tub on a covered porch under the trees. It's close enough that you can leave after dinner Friday and be soaking by 9 PM.
What makes this cabin different from a typical Airbnb.
Private hot tub, year-round. Covered porch so you can use it in rain or snow. Heated and tested before every stay.
The secret bookshelf room. In one of the upstairs bedrooms, push on the bookshelf and it swings open to reveal a hidden nook. Parents text us about it after every stay.
Fully stocked for weekends. Real knives in the kitchen. Fresh linens. Coffee and paper goods restocked. A dedicated workspace with fast WiFi if you're sneaking Monday into your weekend.
Self check-in, any hour. Smart lock, keyless. Arrive at 4 PM or 11 PM — doesn't matter, the code works.
Who it's great for.
Couples wanting a quick reset. Small families (up to 6). Work-from-cabin types. Pet owners — dogs welcome.
Less ideal if: you need three bedrooms (the cabin has two), you're booking for 7+ people (head to our lake house instead), or you want lakefront views (that's Hickory).
Getting here from Columbus.
From downtown Columbus, take I-71 South for about 15 minutes to Grove City. The cabin is another 5 minutes off the highway at the end of a quiet residential street. Roughly 25 minutes from OSU, 35 from John Glenn International Airport, 40 from Polaris. We'll send full directions and the smart lock code a few hours before check-in.
